IBTCI is currently recruiting for a full-time Security and Logistics Coordinator based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.  The Security and Logistics Coordinator will be a Bangladeshi national, with primary responsibility for reviewing all operations, preparing security plans, and providing reports to support the project’s activities.  The coordinator will also ensure appropriate security protocols are in place and maintained throughout all operations.  Secondary responsibilities include management support tasks such as inventory control and logistics.


This position will be for approximately 4-6 months.


Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Implement/develop and manage security protocols and procedures in correspondence with Home Office directives.
  • Maintain awareness of the security situation at all times.
  • Conduct research and outreach required to complete all projects including:
    • All trips out to the field, with analysis of security environment in the areas to be covered, identification of local security contacts in the field, coordination with security personnel on the implementing partners’ facilities.
    • Arrangements to be made for every public event hosted by the project, including analysis of the venue and local security contacts.
    • Arrival of incoming short-term consultants and home office staff.
  • Complete all security reporting, including:
    • General security update presented to all project staff during the weekly staff meeting.
    • Focused situation reports in support of all field-based activities.
    • Security summaries to be included in any evaluation report where appropriate.
    • Complete security reports needed for all reporting.
    • Review all project activities to ensure that the appropriate security protocols are carried out for public events conducted in Dhaka and in the field.
    • Maintain real-time monitoring of all ongoing activities whether in Dhaka or in the field.
  • Ensure that long-term expatriate staff reside in secure accommodations.
  • Ensure that incoming home office staff or short-term consultants are greeted upon arrival with adequate security detail and are provided specific security guidance, as required under the current situation.
  • Manage and provide quality control of the services rendered by our external security providers under the supervision of the Finance & Administration Manager.
  • Conduct trainings and/or briefings, including systematic checklist-based reviews (particularly in terms of field activities) with project staff regarding security procedures.
  • Provide in-country security briefings for all including personnel arriving in Bangladesh to conduct fieldwork.
  • Maintain and develop a network of individuals involved in security in Bangladesh. Represent the project in security work groups and coordinating committees as decided by project management.
  • Maintain project inventory, conducting periodic audits to ensure all items are accounted for and are properly branded and marked.
  • Support other management staff with logistics, procurements and operations including all trips to the field.
  • Go to official government offices as required to complete tasks needed by the project including arranging visas, getting permits, submitting official documentation.
  • Coordinate the operation of the office vehicles.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Practical experience in armed forces, national security organizations, or police preferred.
  • Previous experience in monitoring potential threats from crime, civil unrest, kidnapping and terrorism.
  • Proven knowledge of and access to official security structures in place in Dhaka and Bangladesh and persons in key positions.
  • CPR certifications preferred.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven ability in drafting/delivering critical information that effectively supports timely decision making required.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required.
  • Full proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Driver’s license.



  • University degree with 3-5 years of practical experiences in relevant field.


Working Environment:  Work is typically performed in an office environment and in the field.


Physical Requirements:  This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position may have supervisory responsibilities.


Travel:  International travel may be required.
