Overview: IBTCI is seeking a Director of Collaboration and Outreach for the anticipated USAID/Uganda Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Contract. The five-year contract has the objective of achieving strengthened collaboration, learning and performance to enhance the impact and sustainability of USAID-supported contributions to Uganda’s development.  The contract will help USAID/Uganda strengthen its Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) and overall performance through a broad range of technical assistance, professional development, logistics, small grants and other staff support. This position is contingent on award.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Strengthen and operationalize mechanisms, facilitating external collaboration;
  • Oversee the Contractor’s events planning, facilitation, note-taking and related services;
  • Work with the Director of Performance Improvement to strengthen the collaboration and networking skills of USAID/Uganda staff;
  • Support USAID/Uganda’s thought-leadership efforts by strengthening relationships relevant stakeholders;
  • Ensure that USAID/Uganda-supported grants are achieving results and adhering to best practices in transparency, accountability and grants management;
  • Ensure that USAID/Uganda-supported grants are, as much as possible, co-financed by private sector, other donor and other partners; and strengthen USAID/Uganda’s efforts to integrate innovation throughout its portfolio.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with setting up and managing cutting-edge communication tools, such as social media platforms, interactive websites, etc;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in building partnerships with private sector and other donors;
  • Advanced interpersonal skills that enable effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders;
  • Preferably, three years’ experience living and working in developing country environments;
  • Familiarity with development issues and priorities specific to Uganda;
  • Extensive demonstrable experience strengthening collaboration, learning and performance.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Eight years of direct experience of communications, partnership-building, and/or grants management;
  • Three years of experience managing communications, partnership-building, and/or grants management staff;
  • Quality past performance references.

 

Working Environment: Corporate office environment as well as field work.

 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or social science field relevant to USAID/Uganda’s CDCS required.  Master’s degree preferred.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Travel: The position is based in Kampala but will require travel to other areas of Uganda.
